About Santa Barbara
Located approximately 90 miles north west of Los Angeles there can
be little doubt that Santa Barbara is one of the most beautiful towns
on the Californian Pacific coast. Careful planning by the local
authorities and strict building regulations have ensured that its
character remains in tact. It is also surrounded by magnificent
countryside and the famous wine country that boasts literally hundreds
of wineries and vineyards. One of the most prominent attractions
is of course the long white sand beach that runs the entire length of
the town bringing thousands of visitors each day, particularly during
vacation time, holidays and weekends.
The most recent census shows that the city has a population of
92,000 and the wider metropolitan area including Goleta and
Carpinteria and the unincorporated communities of Hope Ranch,
Montecito, Summerland and Isla Vista brings the total to almost
210,000.
